Can any body tell me how i can get 2 sata hard disks working on my computer 1 as a slave and reconised?

I can never get a second hard disk to show on my computer
(SATA) do you use jumpers it does not show master and slave on sata hard disks thank you.

There are no Jumpers on SATA drives. Your motherboard should have several SATA interfaces on it, Each interface will need a separate cable to connect the drive to one of these SATA ports.

Each SATA port on the motherboard is numbered and the drive plugged into the lowest numbered SATA port (usually SATA-1) will be the “Master” all other drives will be “slaves”.

There is really nothing to configure so if your system isn’t seeing the drive maybe the port om the motherboard is defective or disabled in the BIOS.

The problem that I would like to focus on here is when the read/ write head gets stuck on the platter.

One of the things that may have caused it is mishandling and carelessness. Whenever you are handling the hard disk drive, it is always important to be careful. The internal components of the hard disk are very delicate and sensitive. So when your hard disk is failing or you hear it give some clicking sounds, and then you decide to give it a good tapping so that the noise can stop, you are actually making matters worse. The click sounds come as a result of a broken actuator arm that is causing it to come into contact with another component. By giving it a ‘good tap’ the read/ write head may actually touch the platters and get stuck. So, avoid mishandling the hard drive when it has crashed.

Another thing way that the read/ write head may get stuck in between platters is if there is overheating of the computer. If the fan of the computer is not in good condition, it may cause overheating of the computer components, including the hard disk drive. From physics, heat causes expansion. Therefore, when the hard drive overheats, the internal components overheat and expand. Some of them come into contact with each other and some clicking sounds may be heard through the contacts made. If the read/ write head was between platters, as the expansion takes place, it may get stuck in between them. This is why it is always advised to keep your computer in good condition. If there are any faulty components, they should be fixed or replaced. The computer should be in well ventilated area.
